Being a German car manufacturer isn't all what its cracked up to be. As a German car manufacturer its hard to keep up with you other German competitors because the standard of which the Germans build their cars with is very high. BMW have obviously done well by making their compact and green car the Mini, Volkswagen have got the Polo Blue motion leaving Mercedes Benz and Audi to sort them selves out with an economical and compact hatchback and although Mercedes may not be showing signs of making such a thing Audi are. Audi have managed to create something that doesn't compromise an everyday hatchback with being super green...........
Its called the Audi A1 Sportback and is now competition for Mini and Volkswagen. Like the Germans usually do (In the world of motoring) they have come out on top because they have beaten the Americans. If you remember my blog on the Chevy volt then you will remember me mentioning it did 40 miles purely on electric. Well to top that the Audi A1 gives a 62.5 mile range on pure electric and if you're using petrol it gives off only 92g/km of Co2. It can get to 60 in just under 8 seconds......fast for a hatchback. It seats four and has an overall range of 60.31 mpg. And like most Audis it is very eye catching and that's not even the inside. It has loads of cool gadgets not to mention all the space. It is due to be mass produced late 2009 and so it's not that far away. You may be thinking that this could turn out to be a very expensive hatchback but its not. Starting at £13,000 I don't think is too bad considering the technology behind it.
