Volkswagen Golf GTI Game Style

We have all had a go at Scalextric and wanted to have a go in the car whizzing round the track trying not to fall off. But unfortunately with the average person being around 5ft 9. We are all a bit bigger than the 3mm that we need to be.

Well now is your chance, ahead of the UK launch of the new Golf GTI on May 22, Volkswagen has constructed a Scalextric track were you can race round and round to your heart's content.

Have a go and see if you can beat my best lap of 31.26?

Best of luck!!

Mercedes BlueZERO E

With the world ever changing and trying to become more green we are seeing more and more hybrids/electric/hydrogen fuel cell cars. Volkswagen have their Bluemotion, Volvo have their DRIVe and Ford have their Econetic. Well Mercedes are joining the que and have started to use their BlueZERO technology.

They have come up with 3 new cars on of which they have just revealed at the Detroit Auto Show. The first car they came up with is the BlueZERO E. This is a 100% Lithiom - Ion battery car that looks like a futuristic A/B - class. The E can go for 124 miles on a single charge.

A British Snow Special ! The best car for the snow!

Like everybody else the country I woke up this morning to find that my car was covered in snow. not only was it covered but it was also deep in the white fluffy stuff. And it got me thinking, which car I thought was best for conditions like these, besides if it snows you want to have fun. So your going to want to have a car that can get you to the top of the hill with the most snow on. This is so you can go down in on ur sleigh.

Now, you probably expecting me to tell you about some huge, polar bear killing american 4x4. But although they have bad snow it doesn't stop their cars from breakig down. I don't necessarily mean that the car wont move but in an american car it is likely that the heater will fail or the lights wont come on. That got me thinking about a ceartain nation that loves all these problems, a nation that always solves them.

Yes, I'm talking about Germany! Ok, so we won 2 world wars but actually we have definately come second to them. Despite our 2 historic victories they are a much better, organised country than us, with very clever cars as well. Their cars tend to be quite expensive but only because they will never cost you anymore to run than they were supposed to. So your not always paying out bills for the broken air-con or the cracked window-wash bottles.

So, I have narrowed it down to Germany, now what do I do? Well, Mercedes are too expensive and they are more into the sporting side of things. BMW's can be pricey as well, they are reliable though. But Volkswagen on the other hand are cheaper than the others, safer than the others and definitely the most reliable. So I have decided that Volkswagen are going to be your best choice.

Now I need to decide which one, well I was thinking about the Touareg because it is definitely one of the best 4x4's you can get today. But just because it is big and it has four wheel drive doesn't mean its best for the snow, this is because its heavy so if you get stuck your not going to be able to push it out of trouble. The golf and Polo are way to small and may slip baddly on ice. So in between a Touareg and a Golf, well I figured it was the Passat. Big enough to fit all your skis in, all the safety stuff the government recomend and your family. Not to mention all of its safety technology which the Germans stuff it with. And it has a 4 star Ncap crash rating which means if you do take a spin (in the wrong way) that your nice and safe. Plus you can get heater seats with it which means you don't need to freeze either.

So lets sum this up, the Passat is Big enough, light enough, safe enough, warm enough and most of all its a Volkswagen which means it will never ever break (unless you got sold a duff one). So, car for the snow is Volkswagen Passat.

Bently GTC

Bently, a company that I am a fan of. Their build their cars with second to none quality and although there is always so much technology, there is never enough to confuse you. Now, you remember the Bently Continental GT right? you know, the car that looked amazing and had a huge engine but had an even huger weight. It was a bit like David and Galiath, except the engine was David and the Body was Galiath. The engine only just about won the battle and got the car moving, somehow anyway.
Well, Bently have decided to make a covertable that looks a bit like the continental. Its called the Bently GTC and it has been given a twin-turbo W12 engine (2 V6's combined). This means that 600 horse powers fly out the back of the exaust meanwhile it is also delivering 500-lb ft of torque. This makes it the most powerful convertable that Bently has ever made. Now, you may be thinking; Bently are trying to make a sports car? Oh come on! you should know better than that. Bently don't do sports and they never will as long as the companies director still has his head screwed on. But despite this they still wanted to make the handling good so they have added low friction dampers, a lower ride height, wider tires and retuned steering. And don't worry about stopping this thing as it has the biggest brakes fitted on a car today. Plus, they wont ware out until the next ice age (don't hold me to that because with the winter we've had I think we might get one) because they are carbon ceramic. Despite trying to go on a diet the car hasn't cut out the cakes yet, but considering that it will still take you to 60 in 4.5 seconds which is phenonminal for a car that fat. Another shocking thing is, if its raining and you don't want the roof down you can go 200 mph. And with those brakes you can afford to go 200mph in the wet, i would go 200mph in the ice with those brakes, not to mention the grip on the new wide tires. You can even have it in 2 new colours but I don't really see the point as Bently will do your car in any colour you want anyway. So thats about it for now but if I get any more info I will let you know.
